Overview

Berry helps you understand food in the context of your goals, dietary preferences, and health needs. This policy explains the information we collect, why we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

Information You Provide

Information Collected Automatically

We may collect device, app, and network information, app interactions, diagnostic data, crash information, subscription status, and install-attribution information. Where required, Berry asks for permission before enabling tracking or accessing your camera and photos.

How We Use Information

Food Captures and Shared Product Content

We may use food and package captures to correct, expand, and improve Berry’s food and product data and to make resulting content available to other users. When a capture is used as shared product content, we process that content separately from the submitting account and do not display it as connected to that user. Do not include people or personal information in food captures.

AI Processing

Berry uses third-party artificial intelligence services to analyze information and generate explanations and responses. Information needed for a request, which may include product details, images, profile context, or messages, may be sent to those providers for processing on our behalf.

Berry names the providers that will receive your information in the app, both when it asks for your permission and afterwards under Settings, so the list always reflects the providers in use rather than the providers in use when this page was written. Berry asks before first sending this information for artificial intelligence processing, and asks again if a new provider is added. If you do not allow it, features that require this processing will not submit the request. You can withdraw your permission at any time from the Berry AI setting in your profile.

When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that provide hosting, storage, authentication, artificial intelligence, analytics, attribution, diagnostics, customer support, and subscription services. We require providers that receive user data to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect safety and rights, during a corporate transaction, or when you ask us to.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain information for as long as needed to provide Berry, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. You can initiate account deletion from Berry’s settings. We may retain limited records when legally required or necessary for security, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution. Food captures and product information already incorporated into shared product data may be retained separately from your account. Deleting Berry from your device does not delete your account.

Your Choices

You can update profile information in Berry, manage device permissions in your device settings, manage tracking permission through Apple’s settings, and request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us. Your rights may vary based on where you live.

Children’s Privacy

Berry is not for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has provided information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Security and International Processing

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No system is completely secure. Berry and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where data-protection laws may differ from those where you live.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Berry changes. We will revise the effective date above and provide additional notice when required.
